1) The Lord’s my Shepherd
The Lord’s my shepherd I’ll not want.
He makes me down to lie
in pastures green he leaded me the quiet waters by.

My soul he doth restore again,

and me to walk doth make

within the gates of righteousness,

e’en for his own name’s sake.

Yes, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
yet will I fear none ill.
For thou art with me, and thy rod and staff me comfort still.

My table now has furnished in presence of my foes
My head though thou dost with oil anoint, and my cup overflows.
Goodness and mercy all my life
shall surely follow me.
And in God’s house for evermore
my dwelling place shall be.

( 2) Amazing Grace

Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now I'm found was blind, but now I see.

T’was grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come.
T’is grace hath brought me safe thus far
and grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me: his word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures.

( 3) O Lord my God when I in awesome wonder,

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the works thy hand has made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
thy pow’r throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my saviour God, to thee: How great though art, how great thou art.
Then sings my soul, my saviour God to thee how great though art, how great though art
And when I think that God his son not sparing sent him to die –I scarce can take it in:
that on the cross my burden gladly bearing, he bled and died, to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation and take me home-- what joy shall fill my heart!
Then shall I bow in humble adoration,
and there proclaim:, my God how great though art

( 4) Make me a channel of your peace

Make me a channel of your peace
where there is hatred, let me bring your love Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord and where
there's doubt true faith in you.

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there's despair in life let me bring hope. Where there is darkness only light,
and where there's sadness ever joy.

Oh Master, grant that I may never seek so much to be consoled as to console to be understood as to
understand,
to be loved, as to love, with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, in giving to all men that we receive,
and in dying that we're born to eternal life.

( 5) Christ be beside me

Christ be beside me, Christ be before me Christ be behind me, king of my heart Christ be within me,
Christ be below me Christ be above me, never to part.

Christ on my right hand Christ on my left hand Christ all around me shield in the strife Christ in
my sleeping, Christ in my sitting
Christ in my rising, light of my life.

Christ be in all hearts thinking above me. Christ in all tongues telling of me.
Christ be the vision in eyes that see me, in ears that hear me, Christ ever be.

( 6) Oh, the love of my Lord is the essence

Oh, the love of my Lord is the essence of all that I love here on earth.
all the beauty I see he is given to me and his giving is gentle as silence.

Every day, every hour every moment ,
has been blessed by the strength of his love At the turn of each tide he is there at my side and
his touch is as gentle as silence.

There's been times when I've turned from his presence, and I've walked other paths, other ways.
But I've called on his name in the dark of my shame, and his mercy was gentle as silence.

( 7) Thought the mountains may fall
Thought the mountains may fall and the hills turn to dust
yet the love of the Lord will stand as a shelter for all
who will call on his name.
Sing the praise and the glory of God

Could the Lord ever leave you? Could the Lord forget his love? Though the mother forsake her child,
he will not abandon you

Should you turn and forsake him, he will gently call your name.
Should you wander away from him, he will always take you back

(8 ) God forgave my sin

God forgave my sin in Jesus’ name.
I've been born again in Jesus's name.
And in Jesus’ name I come to you
to share his love as he told me to.
He said; freely, freely, you have received; Freely, freely give.
Go on my name and because you believe others will know that I live.

All pow’r is given in Jesus' name
in Earth and heav’n in Jesus’ name. And in Jesus’ name I come to you to share his power as he told
me to.

( 9) Lay your hands gently upon us
Lay your hands gently upon us. Let their touch render your peace,
Let them bring your forgiveness and healing Lay your hands, gently lay your hands.

heal all our illness

You shall speak your words to foreign men and they will understand.
You shall see the face of God and live.

Be not afraid.
I go before you always.
Come, follow me
and I will give you rest.

If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown.
If you walk amid the burning flames you shall not be harmed.
If you stand before the power of hell and death is at your side
know that I am with you through it all

(11) I will be with you

I will be with you wherever you go Go now throughout the world!

I have heard you calling in the night, I will go Lord, If you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart

Mary can look down

Thoughts of you inside of me help me carry on
flowers grow in fields of snow, when they can see the sun,
and when at last my time is up and my journey's end
maybe some day in the clouds we will meet again

repeat chorus twice

(58) Abide with me

Abide with me fast falls the eventide; the darkness deepens,
Lord,with me abide!
when other helpers fail, and comforts flee help of the helpless, O abide with me
Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day: Earth's joys grow dim,
its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O thou who changes not, abides with me

I need thy presence every passing hour; what but thy grace can
foil the tempter's power? who like thyself
my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me

Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes: shine through the gloom,
and point me to the skies: heaven's morning breaks,
and Earth's vein shadows free: in life, in death, O Lord,
abide in me!

(59) Going home

Going home, going home…
I'm a going home .
Quiet like some still day….
I'm just going home.
It's not far, just close by…
through an open door
work all done, cares laid by…
Going to fear no more .

Mother's there expecting me…. Father’s waiting too….
lots of folk gathered there ….

all the friends I knew. Nothing's lost, all is gained… no more fret or pain
no more stumbling on the way going to roam no more

Morning star lights the way, restless dreams all done shadows call break of day real life just
begun
there’s no break, there's no end,
Just a moving on
wide awake with a smile, going on and on.

going home, going home I'm just going home
it's not far, just close by Through an open door I'm a going home
I'm just going home

(60) the old rugged cross

On a hill far away,
stood an old rugged cross
the emlem of suffering and shame. and I love that all cross
where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners once slain

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross ‘til my trophies at last I lay down I will cling to the old
rugged cross
and exchange it some day for a crown

In that old rugged cross stained with blood so divine a wanderous beauty I see for it was on that
old cross Jesus suffered and died
to pardon and sanctify me

so I'll cherish that old rugged cross
‘til my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged cross and exchange it someday for a crown

The Rosary
The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep in memory certain principal events in the history of our
salvation. There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are divided into the
five Joyful Mysteries (said on Monday and Saturday), the five Luminous Mysteries (optional, said on
Thursday), the five Sorrowful Mysteries (said on Tuesday and Friday), and the five Glorious
Mysteries (said on Wednesday and Sunday). As an exception, the Joyful Mysteries may be said on
Sundays during Advent and Christmas, while the Sorrowful Mysteries may be said on the Sundays of
Lent.
The question is sometimes asked, why, of all the incidents in our Lord’s life, the Rosary only
considers these particular twenty. The mysteries of the Rosary are based on the incidents in the
life of Our Lord and His Mother that are celebrated in the Liturgy. There is a parallel between the
main feasts honoring our Lord and his Mother in the liturgical year, and the twenty mysteries of
the Rosary. Consequently, one who recites the twenty mysteries of the Rosary in one day reflects on
the whole liturgical cycle that the Church commemorates during the course of each year. That is why
some of the Popes have referred to the Rosary as a compendium of the Gospel. One cannot change the
mysteries of the Rosary without losing the indulgences that the Church grants for the recitation of
the Rosary.
1. Make the Sign of the Cross.
2. Holding the Crucifix, say the Apostles' Creed.
3. On the first bead, say an Our Father.
4. Say one Hail Mary on each of the next three beads.
5. Say the Glory Be
6. For each of the five decades, announce the Mystery (perhaps followed by a brief reading from
Scripture) then say the Our Father.
7. While fingering each of the ten beads of the decade, next say ten Hail Marys while meditating on
the Mystery. Then say a Glory Be.
(After finishing each decade, some say the following prayer requested by the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima:

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell;

lead all souls to Heaven,

especially those who have most need of your mercy.

8. After saying the five decades, say the Hail, Holy Queen, followed by this dialogue and prayer:
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: O God, whose Only Begotten Son, by his life, Death, and Resurrection, has purchased
for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech thee, that while meditating on these
mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and
obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Conclude the Rosary with the Sign of the Cross.

A Prayer of Oscar Romero
It helps, now and then, to step back and take a long view. The Kingdom is not only beyond our
efforts,
It is even beyond our vision.
We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction Of the magnificent enterprise that is God’s
work. Nothing we do is complete,
Which is a way of saying that the Kingdom always lies beyond us. No statement says all that could
be said.

No prayer fully expresses our faith. No confession brings perfection.
No pastoral visit brings wholeness.
No programme accomplishes the Church’s mission. No set of goals and objectives includes everything.
This is what we are about.
We plant the seeds that one day will grow. We water seeds already planted,
Knowing that they hold future promise.
We lay foundations that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces effects far beyond our capabilities. We cannot do everything,
And there is a sense of liberation in realising that. This enables us to do something,
And to do it very well.
It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning, a step along the way,
An opportunity for the Lord’s grace to enter and do the rest.
We may never see the end results,
But that is the difference between the master builder and the worker. We are workers, not master
builders;
Ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future that is not our own. Amen

An Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly
Lord Jesus,
you were born of the Virgin Mary, the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne. Look with love on
grandparents the world over.
Protect them! They are a source of enrichment for families, for the Church and for all of society.
Support them! As they grow older, may they continue to be for their families
strong pillars of Gospel faith, guardians of noble domestic ideals, living treasuries of sound
religious traditions.
Make them teachers of wisdom and courage, that they may pass on to future generations the fruits of
their mature human and spiritual experience.
Lord Jesus,
help families and society to value the presence and role of grandparents and the elderly. May they
never be ignored or excluded, but always encounter respect and love.

Help them to live serenely and to feel welcomed in all the years of life which you give them. Mary,
Mother of all the living, keep grandparents and the elderly constantly in your care, accompany them
on their earthly pilgrimage, and by your prayers, grant that all families may one day be reunited
in our heavenly homeland, where you await all humanity
for the great embrace of life without end. Amen!

Prayer for motorists before driving
Holy Mother, hear our prayer, Keep us in your loving care, Whatever the perils of the way, Let us
not add to them this day. So to our caution and attention,
We add a prayer for your protection, To beg God’s blessing on this car, To travel safely near and
far.
Amen.”

Prayer for Emigrants
Bless all those who have left our country and now live in other lands.
Give them a strong faith so that they will always put their trust in you and make you known by the
example of their lives.
Console those who are lonely because they are separated from those they love. Help all missionaries
who are working far from home to make your love known. Bless our people overseas who are sick or in
prison.
We pray for foreigners living in our country that they may experience our hospitality. Grant your
eternal welcome to our emigrants who have died and to all the dead.
Amen.
Prayer for Migrants
Dear Lord,
Be with the displaced and the migrant.
Be with those who have lost contact with their families. Be with those who long for a friendly
face.
Be with those who long for a loving touch.
Be with those who are weary and find it hard to keep going.
Be with those who are cold and long for a warm fire and a cosy chair. Be with those who sleep on
hard ground and long for a comfortable bed. Be with those who have no home.
Be with those who long to feel safe from wars and hatred. Be with those who are in hiding from
violent people.
Be with those who have lost hope.

Be with those today who have to leave their homes To look for a better or a safer place.
Grant them a safe journey and welcome wherever they go.

Be with those who have been trafficked.
Grant that they might meet a compassionate person
Who will release them and give them back their freedom.

Be with those who are vulnerable and alone, Especially children.
Grant them protection from those Who would exploit their vulnerability.

Be with those today
Who are separated from loved ones at the time of death. Grant them a safe home in heaven
And eternal life in your presence.
Be with me today and with those I love.
Help us to recognise you in all the people we meet, In the homeless,
In the sick, In the needy,
And in the stranger.
Help us to extend a caring hand to all your people So that we can build a better, just and caring
world Where all will be one.
In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer to St Peregrine
St Peregrine, we come to you confidently to implore your aid with God in our necessity. You were
converted instantly from a worldly life by the good example of one holy person. You were also cured
instantly of cancer by God’s grace and unceasing prayer.
In your gracious kindness please ask the Lord to heal us also in body, mind, and soul. May we then
also imitate you in doing his work with renewed vigour and strength.
Amen

Prayer in Union with Creation  by Pope Francis from the Encyclical Laudato Si’
Father, we praise you with all your creatures. They came forth from your all-powerful hand;
they are yours, filled with your presence and your tender love.
Praise be to you! Son of God, Jesus, through you all things were made. You were formed in the womb
of Mary our Mother,
you became part of this earth,
and you gazed upon this world with human eyes.
Today you are alive in every creature in your risen glory. Praise be to you! Holy Spirit,
by your light you guide this world
towards the Father’s love and accompany creation as it groans in travail.
You also dwell in our hearts and you inspire us to do what is good. Praise be to you! Triune Lord,
wondrous community of infinite love, teach us to contemplate you in the beauty of the universe,
for all things speak of you.
Awaken our praise and thankfulness for every being that you have made. Give us the grace to feel
profoundly joined to everything that is.
God of love, show us our place in this world as channels of your
love for all the creatures of this earth, for not one of them is forgotten in your sight.

Enlighten those who possess power and money that they may avoid the sin of indifference, that they
may love the common good,
advance the weak, and care for this world in which we live. The poor and the earth are crying out.
O Lord, seize us with your power and light, help us to protect all life,
to prepare for a better future,
for the coming of your Kingdom of justice, peace, love and beauty. Praise be to you!
Amen.

Prayer for Our Earth by Pope Francis from the Encyclical Laudato Si’
All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love,
that we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one. O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes.
Bring healing to our lives,
that we may protect the world and not prey on it,
that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.
Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the earth.
Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation,
to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite
light.
We thank you for being with us each day.
Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle for justice, love and peace.

Prayer for the Dioceses of Achonry and Elphin
Lord Jesus,
You came among us proclaiming the Word of Life, And giving us an example of loving service.
In Baptism, you have made me
A member of your body, the Church.
Help me to recognise the gifts that you have given me And the particular service to which you have
called me.
Help me to recognise also the gifts and the ministries of others, So that, together,
We may work for the building up of your body.

As we walk the road that leads to a deeper relationship Between our two dioceses,
Walk with us Lord Jesus. Open our hearts to your Word.

May the Spirit whom you promised
As the Advocate to be with us always,
Strengthen us with many gifts,
And draw us closer to one another and to you, Who live and reign, for ever and ever. Amen.
